Ceramics, pottery and majolica have a long history in Northern Le Marche (Renaissance Majolica from Castel Durante, now Urbania, everyday use pottery for cooking and all the aspects of everyday life in Fratte Rosa).

Luckily there are young artisans that preserve and revive and rejuvenate the tradition to create amazing works of art. One of them is Sonia, from Acqualab Furlo and yesterday I visited her new space to buy a few Christmas presents and talk about future projects together (she organizes short courses for adults and children teaching some of her techniques, please enquire if you are interested).
She has a strong connection with the area and its natural elements that she uses in her art. She also makes beautiful textiles also with natural patterns.

I find everything she does absoultely stunning in its apparent simplicity. Thank you Sonia for the warm welcome and for creating beauty!
